ABOUT JULIA
Julia Nash Ryan began her professional photography career in 2010 after graduating from Northwestern University with her B.A. in Psychology. She honed her craft capturing events and creating stunning portraits under the mentorship of John Reilly, Margaret Busk and Sheri Whitko. Her classical training in darkroom photography continues to influence her work today.
In 2013, she founded Julia Nash Photography in Chicago and Santa Fe, NM, and has since been dedicated to photographing events and portraits in Chicago and the Southwest. Making people smile and capturing candid moments is what she drives her passion.
Julia’s work is recognized for its exceptional quality and creativity. Her photographs have been featured in The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Social, Make It Better magazine, North Shore magazine and Today’s Chicago Woman. Her clients often praise her ability to capture the essence of a moment and the personality of her subjects.
Julia believes that people are more important than places or things, a philosophy that has always driven her work. She is a mother of three living in Evanston, IL. She enjoys yoga, cooking and reading in her spare time.
Her work spaces include a studio in the Fine Arts Building in downtown Chicago, and her home studio in Evanston. She also enjoys traveling to her subjects to capture them in their own work environments. Corporate clients and groups can book flat day rates to have her come photograph a series of headshots with or without a background and lights.
